I was tagged for this blog tour by the multi-talented author and scriptwriter Lucy V Hay, author (amongst other works) of the Decision series (Lizzie’s Story and Jasmine’s Story). You can read all about Lucy in my interview with her by clicking on my WordPress link below:
For my contribution to this blog tour I thought I’d promote my newest release. ‘For the Sake of a Child’ was only published on 13th September, so I’d like to introduce you to the book’s main character:
1. What is the name of your character? Are they a fictional or historic person?
The main character in my new novel is Virginia Ford (Ginny), who is a fictional character.
2. When and where is the story set?
The story is set in modern times. Ginny, her husband Larry and daughter Trudi live in the fictional English town of Arlborough.
3. What should we know about her?
Ginny, a writer, is 34, and is happily married to Larry, a journalist. However, her books aren’t selling, and she has to find a paying job but at the same time be around for her daughter Trudi who is only seven. She finds employment as a housekeeper at the beauty products’ factory PhizzFace Inc, and begins work as a cleaner. However, after a while she is promoted to the ‘cushy’ job of cleaning upstairs on the directors’ corridor. It’s while cleaning the directors’ offices that she discovers secret meetings occurring involving the directors and unknown children.
4. What is the main conflict?
Ginny cannot live with her conscience, and realises she must spill the beans on what’s really going on after hours in the directors’ offices. When she blows the whistle on the covert operation she realises too late that she has put her family in terrible danger.
5. What is the personal goal of the character?
Ginny’s goal is to find out who the children are that are being abused, and to try and help them.
6. What is the title? Where can we read more about it?
The title of my sixth novel is ‘For the Sake of a Child’, and you can find it on Amazon at http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sake-Child-Stevie-Turner-ebook/dp/B00NK0MGTA/
or on Smashwords at https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/475994
For the next stage in the blog tour I tag the lovely Nikki McDonagh, who quite by chance happens to live just a few miles away from me:
Nicola J McDonagh was born in Liverpool and is a creative writing tutor and photographer. She lives in a 17Century timber framed cottage with her husband and rescue cats and loves to grow, cook and eat her own vegetables and fruit.
Nicola trained as a photojournalist and gained an Honours Degree in Drama and English Literature, and a Diploma in Creative Writing. She used to be an actor and scriptwriter, but gave all that up when she moved to Suffolk UK and fell in love with the acres of farmland that surround her home. She spends many hours sitting in the Summerhouse watching nature frolic in her garden.
Nicola won the Suffolk Book League’s Short Story Competition 2011 with her story, ‘Glimmer’ and was short-listed for the Escalator Genre Fiction Competition 2012 with an extract form Echoes from the Lost Ones; book 1 in her YA dystopian/sci-fi series, The Song of Forgetfulness, published by Fable Press 2013. Book 2, A silence Heard, was published in 2014, as was her self-published collection of tales, Glimmer and other stories.
