This week’s theme: Show off your writing space. Where do you work, write, and spend your writing time?
My desk is situated in our front room, as Sam uses the office upstairs as he also works from home. I work in a nice little corner, surrounded by photos of the family and favourite places I’ve visited.
You can see I really have two desks. On one sits the computer and monitor, printer, shredder, fan, and the remote control for the air-conditioning, and on the antique desk sits my hubble bubble lamp, diaries, and more family photos. A mound of paperwork sits in all the drawers of the antique desk. Oh yes, and a large fan rotates most of the time on the ceiling.
Looking at this photo you ask yourself a question; Is she a hot-bloodied sort of person? Well, you bet your sweet ass she is! One good thing about giving up work is that I don’t have to sit in a hot stuffy office anymore. I can sit at home and turn up the air-con! There’s nobody looking over my shoulder, Sam often brings me cups of tea during the day, and Stevie writes away all day, as happy as a pig in the brown stuff.

I like your antique desk. It reminds me of a quartermaster’s desk our daughter has in her bedroom.

It dates from 1910. I love it with all its scratches and imperfections.

My husband and I have gone round and round about refinishing furniture that has patina. He believes we should. I believe we shouldn’t. Fortunately for me, we always have something else to spend our money on besides destroying the historical value of a venerable piece of furniture. The scratches have a story to tell.

Fans and air-conditioning in Norfolk? Do you live next door to a solar farm or something?

It be Suffolk not Norfolk! Hyperthyroid patients are always hot. It’s a good thing my son is an air-con engineer……

I see.
Suffolk/Norfolk, let’s just say Anglia. (I was getting confused after your comment on my bike article about Norfolk brothers…)
