Interesting result from this survey on book trailers. I must say, I would go on reviews rather than looking at a trailer, but hey, that’s just me.

Last week I ran a poll to see if it was worth my time and money investing in a book trailer (original post). As promised here are the results.
40% stated it’s a waste of time.
40% stated they would consider buying a book if it had a good trailer.
20% voted other – (waste of money, don’t know what a book trailer is)
0% have sold books because of a book trailer
0% find books to buy that way.
I’ve had some interesting comments from other bloggers who mention other options available to people wanting to make their own trailer. As well as Fiver, there is iMovie, moviemaker and an Animoto app. I’ll be looking into these in more detail when I get the chance.

This is interesting to me. Book trailers are like books. Once you publish them, you have to market them. Just putting a book trailer on YouTube will not get people to watch it. You have to have a following. And how would an author know if a book wasn’t sold by someone who ran across their trailer? There aren’t links they can track from a trailer to a website. I’ve been hearing that video is the new wave for marketing, but I still haven’t made any for my books either.

I enjoy creating the trailers for my books and use Animoto. I think kids really like them and I know teachers view them when deciding which books to purchase for the school library. Here is my most recent one. https://animoto.com/play/e3OKBK0EWgYT0W11RieCBQ?autostart=1
