On a somewhat lighter note than yesterday, this will be my last post for a while on Haddon Musings’ Senior Salon. The main reason is because Sam and I will be flying out to Miami early on Saturday and boarding one of the Celebrity X cruise ships on Sunday morning:
Then visiting Georgetown, Cayman Islands…
Followed by swimming with the dolphins in …
Then visiting Cozumel…
And finally there will be three days in New Orleans for the Mardi Gras!
It’s our way of celebrating our upcoming 60th birthdays later this year. When we were 50 we hired our village hall for a disco and buffet party with family and friends, but ten years on with no monthly mortgage payments, we decided to save up for the chance to sample New Orleans in all its glory instead. I must say I’m looking forward to it immensely.
Has anyone ever been to the Mardi Gras? If so, do you have any tips or advice for me? Any comments gratefully received!

Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. I can’t wait to hear how you liked Mardi Gras. It is a blast but like nothing I ever experienced. Hope you have a Po Boy Sandwich and a hurricane.

Great! But for sure don’t miss the Po Boy Sandwiches and the crawfish. The crawfish look nasty but are delicious. Oh, The Acme Oyster House is fabulous if you like oysters.

Left comment below on the wrong post – oops – feel free to delete on the other.

Stevie, I have an entire article about my 3-year’s experience with Mardi Gras, posted earlier this year [A Mardi Gras END to Christmas Festivities] — it is still available from my right sidebar. Scroll down for it. You’ll be really glad to have the info – insider information and more.
Happy just past Valentines Day, btw.

Be sure to grab both parts – it’s an “edited reblog” of an earlier article. Print #1 (down to the garbage that’s always at the end of ALL my articles – you won’t want the links either, probably. Then jump over to the next, jump down and print only the bottom part when you click over to the first stopping before the links etc. No sense wasting ink!
Have a WONDERFUL time.
xx,
mgh

I have not been to New Orleans so I am envious. I have, however, been to your ports of call and loved them all. Have a fabulous time. What a great way to celebrate a milestone birthday. XO
