The recent death of my mother and my upcoming cancer treatment (which will hopefully be successful) has done nothing to dissuade me from the fact that life is very short and also that we must seize the day while we still can.  To this end, and with one item on my bucket list ticked off (Mardi Gras in New Orleans) I decided to go full steam ahead with the next one on the list.

Yesterday I placed a deposit on a holiday home on the Isle of Wight.  We’ve been talking about it for ages, and as far as I am concerned, it is time to put wishes into place.  Here it is:

Sam and I will go there to finalise the deal on 1st April.  Our boys are already discussing between them who is staying there and when!

I’m nearly sixty years old, and I ain’t getting any younger.  I’m seizing the day with both hands.  It’ll be a quiet place to write, to get away from book promotion on social media, to walk along the nearby beach, and to visit all those places on the Island that we love.  I can spend girly time there with my best friends, and it’s somewhere to take our grandchildren to and give them happy memories.

So what if I’m not a number 1 bestseller?  Nobody gives two hoots, especially me; there are other things in life worth living for.
