I’ve been listening to a series of several podcasts over the last few days about the causes of cancer while I’ve been checking my social media sites, and what I’ve heard has surprised me greatly. Most of what I’ve discovered has turned around all the general ideas and views that people have about what causes cancer and what is the best treatment for cancer. I’ve learned from several naturopathic doctors that apart from the known carcinogens we should also avoid man-made sugar products, soya protein, mushrooms (with the exception of chaga mushrooms), glutamate, aspartame, vaccines, root canal fillings, fluoride toothpaste, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and that we should take care of our spines, as pinched nerves can have a bearing on the ‘flight-or-fight’ mechanism which produces too much adrenaline.
The discussions I’ve been listening to are very compelling. The big pharmaceutical industries perpetuate the myth that toxic chemicals kill cancer cells, but generally they tend to only kill the daughter cells and not the cancer stem cells. The idea of naturopathy is to build up our immune systems to heal ourselves from within and banish the cancer stem cells that are so hard to treat, and not put poisons into our bodies to weaken or destroy our resistance to disease. Naturopaths suggest bathing in essential oils, and making sure we have green vegetables, blood oranges, turmeric, ginger, raspberries, figs, red grapes and iodine in our daily diets. I’ve learned about Essiac tea, something I’ve never heard of before (I looked on one of our national health food websites – they don’t sell it). Apparently I should also be taking Vitamin B17 (Amygdalin) which is present in apricot kernels (Vitamin B17 was banned by the FDA in the 1980’s).
Here’s the irony. I’ve been given a high fluoride toothpaste and mouthwash to use for life, to combat possible radiotherapy-induced dental decay/necrosis! When I looked up apricot kernels on Google there’s an article about how dangerous they are as they can turn to poison in the body. It’s difficult to know what to do to try and help yourself if you’re suffering from cancer. However, I have come to the conclusion that it’s time to get my blender down from its perch on top of a kitchen cupboard and start juicing up raw organic vegetables. I’ve ordered some frankincense oil instead of my usual bubble bath, and yesterday sprinkled some turmeric in a casserole as well as my usual herbs and peppers. It immediately made it smell like curry, which I hate!
There’s another 4 podcasts to watch, which only stay up for a day or two. There is evidence from cancer survivors of how they beat the disease using only nature’s ingredients. However, my mother beat uterine cancer with 6 weeks of radiotherapy back in the 1980’s. My instinct is to now shun the 6 weeks of radiation I’m booked to have starting tomorrow, and pour green vegetables and fruits down my throat instead, but hey, would I be doing the right thing? Who knows?
So far there isn’t a known cure for the disease that is affecting more and more people as time goes on. My family would be appalled if I stopped radiotherapy, so what I’ve eventually decided to do is to have both treatments running one alongside the other, and then I’m getting the best of both worlds (I hope).
What would you do?
P.S I’m not quite sure if I should leave a link to the podcasts as I had to sign up for them. They’re free, but if anybody wants a link they can message me at stevie@stevie-turner-author.co.uk

Realizing that I’m a complete stranger, and not knowing what sort of cancer you have, I want to point out that apricot kernals are processed through the liver so if you have a compromised liver many people will advise against it. I am never sure what to think about them because everything gets processed through the liver. I am doing more research to see why people with knowledge are warning against it. As to Essiac, its available on Amazon and a couple of companies market it. You can even find tablets. Have you heard of Chris Beat Cancer? He offers in depth information, interviews and discusses how to use the remedies on his site. I have chosen an integrative approach myself but I question that alot. Its a personal decision obviously and its a hard one to make. I’m sorry you are going through it.

Thanks for your comment. I have thyroid cancer, but hopefully the radiotherapy has finally zapped it. I read that apricot kernels are dangerous to take as they turn poisonous in the body. I haven’t heard of Chris Beat Cancer but I’ll definitely check it out. Thanks for your comment.

Sending you healing light Stevie. You ask a tough question as it’s different for each individual. I live by my Naturopath’s advice, and often throughout some terrible times, he recommended both, complimentary therapy, conventional and naturopathic. So go ahead with the radiation, but load up on the good stuff. Juicing is a fabulous aid. ❤
P.S. I'm reading your memoir, halfway through in one day, hard to put down! 🙂

Hi Stevie… Johns Hopkins released a bombshell a couple of years ago when they released their findings on cancer prevention/treatment (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M66ElUMFxVs). You’re on the right track with juicing. If it were me, I would not have chemo, and I’d have RT only if it were stereotactic and of short duration (https://www.radiologyinfo.org/en/info.cfm?pg=stereotactic). I’d also seek out a health professional qualified to administer high-dose IV vitamin C therapy (https://www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/treatment/cam/patient/vitamin-c-pdq, https://www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/treatment/cam/patient/vitamin-c-pdq, https://www.cancertutor.com/vitaminc_ivc/, https://riordanclinic.org/research-study/vitamin-c-research-ivc-protocol/). As an RN, I’ve seen too often the devastating effects of chemo and RT. I don’t say this to scare you, but rather to support your holistic approach to treatment. Wishing you good health, Stevie, and keeping you in my prayers 💚

I think using both conventional medical wisdom and natural treatments like diet, exercise, meditation…covers all bases.

I think diet is important, for general health as well as for cancer prevention. I am also naturally suspicious of some of the claims you find on the internet. I really do believe that the medical profession knows best. I’m including a link to a programme that’s bee operating here in Ireland for a few years now and for which I am a volunteer leader. It originated in California and is all about using gentle exercise to boost your immune system and prevent the recurrence of cancer. I don’t know if you can find a group operating the programme near you, but there’s no need to be on the programme (though it helps with morale) – just regular walking, if you are not already doing it, is going to be beneficial. http://mariemurphyhealthfitness.com/strides-for-life/#.WNfrnaLavIU

My Dad lived four years longer than his expiry date (his joke not mine) even his doctors were stunned . Dad had conventual treatment alongside a diet of dark green veg with the best meat he could get, everything fresh and no white ( flour, rice, potatoes, sugar) Three times a day he drank fresh lemon grass steeped in hot water sweetened with agave nectar. He swore by keeping the diet balanced. And the anti oxidants in fresh lemon grass is something that is gathering momentum after lots of trials in U S A and Switzerland.

The info out there is confusing. I think it is important to stay as healthy as possible eating tons of fresh fruits and veges but to also continue the radiation. Your decision to do both sounds wise. I also believe a positive attitude helps. Sending hugs. ❤
