I don’t know if this is common knowledge, but I thought I’d share an email that I received from Kindle Direct Publishing which might help any authors who have published or will be publishing a book between 1st May and 31st August (the book must be enrolled in KDP Select):
“Thank you for recently publishing your book “A Marriage of Convenience” (ASIN:B07D7Z37DR) through Kindle Direct Publishing.
Have you heard about the 2018 Kindle Storyteller contest? You may be interested in entering your book into the contest. The Kindle Storyteller prize is open to submissions of new books published in the English language between 1st May and 31st August, 2018. The prize is open to books published in digital and print formats in any genre. The winning author will receive a £20,000 cash prize and be recognized at a central London award ceremony.
Further details about the contest can be found here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/b?ie=UTF8&node=12061299031
Read the detailed terms and conditions here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/b?ie=UTF8&node=12414786031
If you meet the eligibility requirements and enter the keyword ‘storytelleruk2018’ into the keyword field of your book on your KDP account, we will then add your book to the contest.”
So there you have it. If you have a new book in Kindle Select and want to be in the running for £20,000, just add keyword ‘storytellerUK2018’ and you might be lucky!
Interesting, Stevie. But as I think you know, I am mighty sceptical about KDP Select. This smacks of Amazon’s ploy to bribe indies into enrolling in Select. Sorry if that sounds cynical.
I’ve had my fill of the Select programme and vowed never to go back after my one and only currently enrolled book’s period has expired.

Yes you may be right. I have some books enrolled and some not.

Wow, that is interesting. Good luck Stevie. I haven’t read anything about this in my travels. 🙂

Thanks. Maybe only those who have just published a book get the email?

I would think so.

Thanks for posting this, Stevie. I received the email and enrolled my book. I then received another email telling me my book wasn’t eligible because it wasn’t enrolled in KDP. I sent back an email with a screen shot showing that it was, indeed, enrolled in KDP and received an apology email. I think they are working out the kinks in the program, but I’m glad to see it happening.

Thanks Sally, but thinking about the keyword, I assume it’s just for the UK? Perhaps our US friends could let me know if they’ve received any similar emails?
