Authors can share a link to their short stories (less than 2000 words please) or poetry, and it won’t cost you a penny! The deadline is 30th June. Stories or poems can be on any subject, but please keep them reasonably family friendly. On 2nd July I will pick a winner and a runner up and share the links to the stories on my website, MeWe and Twitter pages. The winner also has the choice of their story being included in an anthology of winners that I will compile when I have enough stories.
Please ensure that you add the link to your story to June’s submission page and not any previous month, or it may be missed.
I look forward to reading your efforts. The winners can use these laurels to add to their story:
I’m sharing ‘Obstacle Course’ here today. I wrote it aged 15 after weeks of being teased about my thick curly hair. Kids tend to pick on those who are different in some way, and unfortunately I was the only kid in the class with corkscrew hair…
OBSTACLE COURSE, BY STEVIE TURNER
The gaggle of irritating schoolgirls approached me
In giggling delight.
Their mocking eyes shouted to the world
The joy they felt at this encounter.
Staring fixedly at the distant horizon,
I let a slight smile
Hide my quickened heart, and
The slow sinking feeling
That always accompanied this wearying routine.
An impenetrable human barrier
Formed before me.
The sun was beginning to set in the heavens,
The journey home was always memorable.
Hi Stevie, here is my last minute submission; The Fake ID
Thanks in advance 🙂

Hi, Stevie. New to blogging and looking around for fellow travellers, so here’s a short story based on some childhood memories. https://sixcrookedhighwaysblog.wordpress.com/2019/06/19/killing-the-serpent/

Cheers Debby. Just got settled at the van. Sam’s out jet-washing the decking, giving me time to get the computer fired up lol.

I’d like to offer a submission. I wrote a memoir of an event from my childhood. It is around 1800 words. I call it: The Horse Thief.

“Love is Blind” was written by my husband, Frederick. He doesn’t blog, so I’m submitting it for him. Part of our story in poetic form:

No word counts? Hmm, sounds interesting. 🙂 x

Yes there is a word count – I did put less than 2000 words at the beginning of the post. Hope that’s okay?

Thanks, Stevie. I am not much of a runner so, as a compromise to my fitness, I bought a treadmill…🙄
