We discovered a new cycling trail today. It runs along an old disused railway track that Mr Beeching closed down in 1956. It was rather lovely cycling a 9 mile round trip from Sandown station to Merstone on a smooth tarmacked path. Here’s the first stop at Alverstone:
Sam said “Can you see that face in the tree?” I thought he’d seen a ghost until I saw this:
Bit creepy isn’t it? After about 3 miles we were pleased to see this lovely café right on the trail. I should imagine it’s a little goldmine for the owners:
We’ll definitely do that trail again. However, the legs are tired now as I’ve never cycled 9 miles before! Time for a cup of tea and a sit down on the decking. See you soon. x

I’m more of a jogger than a biker. I’d totally go for a jog because it looks so lovely. Haha, funny about the face in the tree!

We are blessed to live close to the American River Bike trail. I like your off-road trail, though. Looks like fun, Stevie!

Sounds perfect – if only all cycling was on smooth tarmac trails!

I haven’t cycled in years, probably have a coronary if I tried now. It does beat walking though!

I stopped cycling after I had an accident and broke my pelvic bone in three places.

Ouch. I’ve fallen off once and had a painful rib for a month, but so far nothing else.
