Hi all, unfortunately the lady that has made many of my book covers has closed up her business due to health problems. I am therefore looking for recommendations for a reasonably priced cover designer. If anybody has used a designer that they are happy with and they don’t charge the earth, then perhaps you wouldn’t mind leaving a link to their site in the comments please?
Cheers, me dears. I have a new book all done and dusted, but no cover (sad face). This cover would mainly need to feature a person, as many of my other covers do. If you are interested in leaving your link, have a look at my Amazon page to see the sort of thing I like on my front covers: https://www.amazon.com/Stevie-Turner/e/B00AV7YOTU
I don’t know what you consider reasonable, but I know my own cover artist has gotten rather rich for my blood and ironically, I received an email from a guy who is pretty well known and has many happy customers from Fiver. He was promoting himself. I get lots of promo and spam mail, but his email was well presented, I checked out his pages and cover art samples of books he’s done and great reviews. And very reasonable. We’ve exchanged emails and I told him I’ll be needing him soon. I have to find the email and I’ll send you the link. x

I like the covers Teagan creates and her pricing is reasonable. You might want to check her out. https://teagansbooks.com/riordain-cover-designs-portfolio/

None of my damn business, but I’d like to see you adopt some less photographic character giveaway and go with the look of the big folks where it’s you and the title and the background suggests the set, like medical or ghost house or… I think for some reason the MOR gauzy phot covers cheapen your product, or put it in the Romance cover realm. I was never a fan of the western covers with touched up cowboys to look like a painting or the Fabio with a woman in one hand and a can of Reddi whip in the other!
But like I said, about my business…

Cheers for your advice. I’ve yet to find a cover designer, but will take some more advice from them too for my latest book.

I just think you’re throwing away market share with the pics. Meyer’s Briggs will tell you 25% + – will respond negatively to a given image based on everything from race to attire. Which is why the people who spend the big bucks stay away from that format unless your audience is expecting a cartoon redhead riding a razor and you’re going to sell a zillion books anyway. The rest of us, if looking to expand a reader base , will sell the product, not the cast. Just sayin’

I’ve found somebody who has designed a great cover for me which doesn’t include people, but gets the gist over of what the book’s about.

I don’t know if you are familiar with blogger/writer, Teagan, but one of the things she does besides writing is to produce book covers. Here is the link. I think they’re reasonably priced. https://teagansbooks.com/riordain-cover-designs-portfolio/

I don’t know anyone personally, Stevie. I have shared it on Twitter, but Harmony Kent might be a good contact. She specialises in Indy authors, and has many published book too.
