Thanks to Sally Cronin for featuring an excerpt from my dark novelette ‘Leg-Less and Chalaza’. The idea came to me when pushing my husband around in a wheelchair after his Achilles’ tendon repair surgery in 2018.  I thought up a quirky story about how Jeff and his ex-wife might fare when she was forced to care for him after similar surgery.

The wheelchair had belonged to my mother, and I’d had no problem pushing her about as she weighed only around 7 stones.  However, when Sam first got in it I thought the brakes were still on!
