Today’s challenge on Sunday Stills is ‘Under the Trees‘. My favourite tree is the tamarisk that we have in our garden. Year after year it outdoes itself in beauty, as you can see here. Under this tamarisk are bird feeders, and the birds flock there every day to peck peanuts:

It is gorgeous! I love the pink color and imagine looking out at it each day brings a smile 🙂

The pink blossom has gone now unfortunately .

Wow, Stevie, no wonder it is your favorite tree. It looks like it has wings made of feathers. Pretty clever to place bird feeders beneath it. 🙂

We look forward to it blossoming every May. It’s a sight to behold.

What a gorgeous tree Stevie. I can imagine a fairy garden under it. Is it deciduous?

Yes. We reckon it must be about 50 years old.

I’ve seen your amazing tamarisk tree before, Stevie, and each time I have been so inspired to learn more about these. It’s really amazing, like a willow, and all that pink? To die for! I’m sure you enjoy everything it brings you!

Yes indeed . It’s a shame the pink blossoms don’t last long.

For a few weeks in May, and that’s it. Thanks for your comment, Jacquie.

That is a wonderfully impressive tree, Stevie! How long did it take to grow that big? I’m also wondering if it would grow in our gravelly soil in Beetley.
Best wishes, Pete.

Thanks Pete. We’re no gardeners. It was planted by the previous owner. It was that size when we moved in 30 years ago, and every year we have to prune it otherwise it gets too big.

I can buy one about 4 feet high and 3 feet across for £36 plus delivery. I have been reading up on them, and may buy one next year, as they have to be planted in April.

They’re quite thirsty though, and the grass around it can get quite dry.
