Hooray! I have a computer back again!
Yesterday I visited Appuldurcombe House at Wroxhall. The house was built between the years of 1701 -1713 for the Worsley family, and in its time was the grandest house on the Island. It is also the most haunted house now. I took lots of photos yesterday of what remains; it’s just a shell these days unfortunately, but it’s very atmospheric. There was only one other person about, and I wandered enthralled between the rooms looking for ghosts of previous owners.
The two portraits you can see in the picture below are Sir Richard Worsley and his wife Seymour, who lived there in the 1780s. I was quite fascinated by the worn flight of steps… 250 years of footsteps treading up and down!
