Today is a bit overcast and rainy on the IOW. However, yesterday we basked in glorious sunshine all day and drove over to Shorwell for our first festival of the year in the grounds of Wolverton Manor.

It was a festival set up to increase funds for Brighstone school and also for Cancer Research. It featured various folk and blues bands, and it was lovely being outside in the sunshine listening to music after two years of Covid and lockdowns. It wasn’t quite the big IOW Festival as you can see, but we enjoyed it!

At one point we had the delight of a group of Morris dancers with their sticks. Sam soon found the beer tent, and I could just imagine Sam and our sons doing this dance after a few beers. It would be a riot!

Time for swimming now in the site’s pool, and then out for Sunday lunch. Home tomorrow, but back again in a fortnight for a longer stay.
Looks like so much fun Stevie. Have a ball! 🙂 xx

Wonderful! You also have so great manors in your region, and the tradition dance are belonging to such an environment. Here the are trying now for over ten years to establish the Scottish Highland Games, but neither is this region Scotland, nor would the Roman-Catholic Church (as the unvisible ruler) accept Scottish behaviour. Lol Our region is searching for his identity. 😉 Best wishes, Michael

P.S.: I know you are not living in Scotland, and the photos are from your region, but this with our region just jumped into my mind. 😉

Whereabouts in the world are you?

Yes, many manors are open to the public through the National Trust. I don’t think this one is though.

Folk and Blues. Isn’t that like cause and effect? Ain’t it nice to be outside again? Looks like you had room to breathe, which is a good thing. The stick dance, accordion, fiddle, ocarina or bagpipes still looks like a Monty Python bit waiting to go wrong. Beer might just be the ticket to taking it big time🤣 Great days are made of excursions to the not daily fare!

I guess listening to Folk gives you the blues? The Folk stage was inside the beer tent, and so we could only hear Blues from where we were seated, which was preferable.
