Today on Sunday Stills Terri has chosen the topic ‘Feeding the Birds‘.
I’ve added some photos below of Sam doing his bird-whisperer thing and feeding a peacock, a peahen, and some ducks at Calbourne Mill, Isle of Wight (2008). Also I’ve added a couple of pics of my granddaughters feeding ducks a bit nearer to home at The Mere, Diss in Norfolk; the first one round about 2009 with a suspicious bite mark out of the bread, the second one about 2011, and then Sam doing another bird-whispering thing at The Mere around 2011 too.

Feed the birds, tuppence a bag… love the mystery bite out of the bread. It’s nice to know all granddaughters, regardless of effort, can’t find a hairbrush🤣

She’s inherited my unruly mop. It goes its own way.

My daughter used to love to feed French fires to the seagulls in Seattle…they loved it just as much! Terrific photos!

Thanks John. In some UK coastal areas seagulls are considered a pest and there are notices asking visitors not to feed them.

There are SO many along the water in Seattle they don’t even bother!

They used to love feeding the birds. The girls are 17 and 15 now!

Sam IS the bird whisperer! Great shots, Stevie! Chuckling at the suspicious bite of bread, too! Looks like a lovely place to consider retirement, too.

Birds do seem to be drawn to him. One time a baby blackbird thought Sam was its mother. Sam hand fed it milky bread and it followed him around. Another time a robin stood by Sam while he was digging flowerbeds because there were tasty worms nearby. Sam stood back, and let the robin get a worm. Then the robin let Sam dig, and they took it in turns for ages.

Wow, that is really amazing! He’s probably one of those people who could feed birds from his hand as they perch on it.

Yes, he’s often done this.

We like Diss. We’re thinking of moving to new retirement flats that are being built next to Morrisons. We’ll find out more about them at a launch party in the autumn.

We have been to The Mere in Diss. I liked it there, but I am not so fond of the town as it is a bit industrial on the edges.
Best wishes, Pete.
