The heavy snowfall we had yesterday and early frost this morning has now almost gone. The sun is bright in the Land of Skies, although my phone registered minus 1 when we went out for a walk at eight o’clock. We actually lit our log fire when we returned home on Wednesday after spending 3 days at our caravan, as the thermometer in our hallway read 14 degrees and was even too cold for me!

This evening we’re meeting up with the family in Bury St. Edmunds town centre for an early Mother’s Day dinner, due to the fact that next Sunday I shall be sitting in solitary splendour in our caravan on the Isle of Wight. Sam will be here working whilst plasterers get to work in our house, and with me being intolerant to gloss paint I need to be 200 miles away! I shall be on the IOW for 2 weeks (although will return as a foot passenger on the 28th March to attend a funeral), and when I eventually return to Suffolk I’m sure I won’t recognise the 2 double bedrooms upstairs. We’re leaving the third bedroom alone for now, as it’s Sam’s office and is chock full of ‘tat’.

Our lawn looks terrible; it was baked during the hot summer and much of the grass has died and has been replaced by moss. Sam has bought some moss killer and grass seed, and is looking forward to bringing the lawn back to its former glory whenever the frost lets up. At the moment he’s in the ‘decorating season’ and is stripping wallpaper as I write this. The ‘gardening season’ starts around April every year.

Work typing clinic letters has seemingly dried up. When I return to Suffolk on 1st April I will be able to do some database work at the hospital for as many weeks as I can stand it. The work is boring and I’ll need to drive to Bury St. Edmunds every morning, but hey, it pays the bills. I much prefer to type letters at home, but the new hospital system means that permanent secretaries can obviously get through letters a bit faster.

On Wednesday I will have sedation for a root canal treatment and one back tooth extraction. I can’t wait. I will be driving to the IOW on Saturday with a face ache I expect. I’ve waited 8 weeks for the appointment, and I’m not going to turn it down. Hopefully this will be the beginning of the end of the dental work I’ve been having over the past 5 years to have a few new crowns and to replace some old fillings. Teeth are a bloody nuisance.

That’s all my riveting news for now. I’m back with Sunday Stills Challenge tomorrow.
You have a lot going on. 2 weeks at IOW while Sam oversees the work at home sounds like a dream. Finally getting to the dentist is not a dream. Best to you, Stevie.

Thanks Jennie. The dentist is more like a nightmare! Thankfully no more dental trips until May now. I’m enjoying my first day on the Island.

That’s good news on the dentist. Yes, it’s always a nightmare. You’re now on the IOW…hooray!!!

Good luck at the dentist, Stevie. At least you will be escaping the upheaval of decorating.
Best wishes, Pete.

I agree teeth are a b***** nuisance! I thought mine were done when I replaced everything with Cerec crowns at huge expense, which then all started breaking.
I hope the root canal is not too painful. I had one and don’t remember it, so I guess it wasn’t too bad. Enjoy the IOW!

Oh dear, so what happened after the Cerec crowns started breaking? Were they able to be repaired? I’ll be asleep for the root canal…

I had to have them re-done. The dentist who did them made them too thin, but blamed me for grinding my teeth.
I had them replaced by another dentist, who made them thicker, and none of them have broken.

I’m a grinder too. It ruins your teeth.

They wanted to charge me thousands for a Night Guard – some sort of gum shield which protects your teeth at night, and causes death to romance. They said they wouldn’t guarantee my crowns without it.
Curiously, my new dentist didn’t insist on a Night Guard. He told me they had made the crowns too thin, he made them thicker, and the new ones have lasted.
Some dentists are just charlatans.
I have nice even teeth and at the end of one appointment, the Night Guard dentist asked me “Are you happy with your smile?”
They wanted to sell me cosmetic dentistry, which I absolutely don’t need, by making me feel insecure about my beautiful pearly whites.
I changed dentist!
