This week on Sunday Stills the topic is ‘Fresh’. I thought I’d share a fresh new morning sunrise which could be seen outside my window last week:
This week’s topic is ‘Frozen’. I thought I’d add a couple of photos; one shows a snow angel my granddaughter made, and the other shows the road outside my house on a frozen January morning. Keep warm, folks!
Thanks to Hugh this week for hosting the Sunday Stills Photography challenge, for which the topic is ‘Night’. I’ve decided to add a photo of dusk at Ryde Pier, Isle of Wight, where Sam and I often like to sit and watch the trains rattling down the pier and hovercraft zooming up onto the landing place.
I thought I’d publish two views I have from the window of our holiday home (the ‘van’) on the Isle of Wight, and two views from outside our main home in Suffolk:
This first photo shows the view we have of the English Channel when I look out of the van’s back kitchen window.
And this is the view out the front kitchen window of a red squirrel running up our sun parasol on the van’s decking. No grey squirrels inhabit the Isle of Wight. They are on the mainland, and only red squirrels are seen on the Island.
And here’s the view I have of part of our front garden in Suffolk when I sit and type:
Here’s most of it from one of the upstairs bedrooms. The garden doesn’t look its best in January, but it’s a great deal improved from the burnt grass we had in last summer’s heatwave. In the centre is the lid of our underground gas tank for the central heating, as there’s no mains gas in the arse end of nowhere…
I searched through my old photos to find a suitable one for the Sunday Stills ‘Vintage‘ topic today. I came up with this one of me and my mother Dot, taken about 1963. We were staying at one of those awful 1950s holiday sites that resemble prisoner-of-war camps. I always had to have the bow in the hair to match the dress, much to my disgust…
For the last Sunday Stills of 2018 the topic is ‘Red‘. I thought I’d share a photo that Sam took of me a few years’ ago. We were out for a walk along the main street in our village, and I think the red railings of the builder’s yard contrast rather nicely with the snow. What do you think?
Here below is my picture for this week’s Sunday Stills Photo Challenge. The topic is ‘Bucket List‘. You can add yours too by checking out the following link:
The photo was taken in February 2017 in Costa Maya. I’d always wanted to swim with dolphins, and I got this chance when on a cruise to New Orleans for the Mardi Gras. The dolphin is whispering sweet nothings in my ear, but I can’t understand what he’s saying…
This week the topic is thankfulness. Here below is a picture of me in 2013 on a windy day at Compton Bay, Isle of Wight, just after the music festival. I’d been in remission from thyroid cancer for 6 years, and was thankful to still be alive. However, I didn’t know just what was waiting for me around the corner…
After 30 radiotherapy sessions in 2017 and all scans and blood tests clear since, I’m thankful all over again!
