This week the topic is:
Inspiration. Where do you get your inspiration for writing? When you’re running low on ideas or creative flow, how do you get your inspiration back?
I must admit that since undergoing extensive radiotherapy treatment earlier this year, the muse/mojo has been somewhat elusive, and I’ve been suffering from ‘radiation brain’. I’ve been out walking a lot as that used to help, but somehow it’s not as effective as it used to be.
However, it’s 5 months on now, and I need to get back in the swing of writing. I began visiting the Quora.com website, and have found many ideas there. Also I started up a monthly ‘Share Your Short Story’ competition on my blog earlier this month. It makes me write at least one short story a month, and I get to pick my favourite out of all your entries at the end of every month to promote on my newsletter and social media sites. It’s all free publicity, which we could all do with!
When I have enough stories I’m going to publish them in a free anthology sometime next year(with the authors’ permissions of course!), thereby gaining the authors even more exposure.

This month the winner was Dawn Smith Gondeck, also known as Mike and Dawn at ‘Random Bits of Trial & Error’, who you can find on Facebook by clicking on the following links:

You can read Dawn’s short story here:

The link to November’s competition will be on my WordPress blog on November 1st

I think even a muse needs a timeout. 🙂

Writing is a stress reliever and a stressor, especially when we’re pushing too many deadlines.

My muse is getting frustrated- between work and the grandkids, I’ve been putting her behind other priorities.

Hi Stevie. I understand how you feel… a few months ago, I had a major health crisis and was exhausted and had no energy to write. Our physical health definitely impacts our emotional health and well being. Both important factors for writing from the soul. Your new projects seem like great sources for inspiration.

I’ve overcome the major health crisis and have energy, but no ideas! Oh well, maybe I just need a break from it all. I’m enjoying blogging though.

I have discovered, painfully, I must admit, that our muses need time off too, and sometimes need coaxing back to work. Pity we don’t have more than one muse, for a little competition usually works!

I seem to be more tired than usual, and I don’t think that helps either!

I think I do have more than one muse … or at least always more than one project. I have a primary and a secondary (and sometimes a tertiary), but switch around to keep myself fresh. But occasionally the muse does need a break … it’s just understood that it can’t be a six-month tour of the Netflix universe.

No such word as can’t… at least I like to think so. Anything can happen, even to us!
