Yesterday was nice and sunny. We managed a bike ride and an afternoon out in Ryde without getting wet. I took this photo along the Ryde/Puckpool seafront…

However, today it wasn’t a day for bike riding. We took our umbrellas and walked the path from Shanklin to Sandown, and then climbed up to take a photo from the top of Sandown revetment…

Just to the left of this photo there was the top of a mast in the water. We wondered about calling the coastguard, but then spoke to a couple of guys who told us the story. The owner of the boat had just bought it the week before. It had no radio to alert the coastguard, and when he beached it in shallow waters he just swam away and left it. Oil and diesel had spilled into the sea as choppy waves carried on relentlessly smashing the boat to bits. Wreckage bobbed about on the waves, and the two guys said the owner will probably regret buying the boat when he receives the bill for the salvage process.

After half an hour sitting in the car to dodge the showers, we managed a final walk along Shanklin Esplanade to a cafe we know right at the end near the Chine, and sat under an awning with a cup of tea.
So long for now. BBQ with Sam’s family at our van tomorrow if the weather holds. x

What an odd thing to do; buy a boat, beach it and then just leave it. It seems so irresponsible and wasteful.

Perhaps they have more money than sense, lol.

But at least a very distracting journey, Stevie! These times all is better than sitting at home and listening to the news. Have a nice week! xx Michael

What a wonderful place you can stay in, Stevie! That first photo looks so tropical, like Hawaii! A shame about the man’s boat. Your day looks lovely and it’s OK to send a little rain my way 😉

I hope you get the good weather tomorrow. Sadly, the forecast is not that brilliant for either of us. 😦
Best wishes, Pete.

Get n awning or a patio cover. I have a replaceable gazebo over the grill. That the dogs think is a sheltered potty area. But you don’t have dogs so the cover is still a good idea.

Yes that is a good idea as long as it’s not windy.
