I thought I’d jump on the bandwagon here. I read Life’s Fine Whine’s blog about 5 things they’re not going to do in 2022, and so I decided to add my own. Without further ado, here are 5 things I’m not going to do in 2022:
- I am not going to feel guilty if I do not write either a new post for my blog or more words to my WIP every day. Life’s too short to worry about things that don’t need worrying about.
- I am not going to work in the hospital again now that I have experienced working from home. If I.T need their laptop returning then I’ll ask to either buy it or purchase a new one. I have my own little office set up in my front room, and it’s rather pleasant to work in peace and quiet and in a room temperature that suits me.
- I am not going to socialise again in 2022 until the Covid infection rate comes right down. At the moment it’s over 180,000 per day. Sam and I are in self-imposed lockdown!
- I am not going to let any weight slowly creep on. It’s at the limit of what I will let it get to, and the gates of heaven are narrow.
- After my brush with death on a cruise in 2017 I am not going on any more cruises in 2022 (or any other year for that matter) or getting into any more small boats/tenders.
What are you not going to do in 2022?

Healthy list there Stevie. I am not going to be a couch potato, lol. I am no longer associating with people in my immediate life who disrespect, lack compassion and live by the ‘me first attitude.’ That’s just a start. 🙂 xx

I hope it’s not too late to join in. I read your post the other day and it got me to thinking and this is what I have come up with my five:
1. I’m not going to worry about money (comments above about worry explain why!)
2. I’m not going to throw food away – a couple of days ago I threw away half a beetroot that had been in the fridge too long. I try very hard not to throw food away, but I can do better so now is a good start
3. I’m not going to use peat based products – for a long time I’ve known about the destructive nature of excavating peat but have, to my shame, not done anything about it. This year that will change.
4. I’m not going to stay silent – I’ve been far too passive in my part in helping to solve the bigger problems. I try to use less plastic, I go on litter picks and other small things (that do make a difference) but that’s not enough any more. I need to add my voice (small though it is) to those already brave enough to speak out. Petitions will get my signature and MPs will get me letters!
5. I’m not going to waste anything, at least I’m going to try not to. David Attenborough said it recently and they are wise words. Whatever it is, food, general stuff, heating, petrol, time, I’m going to work hard not to waste any of it.
Thank you for helping me have these thoughts – Happy New Year to you!

And good thoughts they are too. I try to do my bit to save the planet as well.

1. I’m not going to add more than a handful of new blogs in 2022. I can barely keep up with the ones I follow.
2. I’m not going to finish any more books that I’m not invested in simply because I started a book and think I need to finish.
3. I’m not going to give up on any writing goals this year. Next year, maybe.🤣
4. I’m not going to set a target number of books to read for 2022. Reading is about pleasure. I’ll take quality over quantity.
5. I’m not going to take any of the beautiful people or things in my life for granted.

I tend to abandon books too if I can’t get on with them. I also don’t set a target now for the number of books to read.

All of those sound like solid plans – I’m paraphrasing Will Rogers here – Worry is paying a debt that hasn’t come due. And I think Mark Twain said that the worst things in his life never even happened. Both of which make me feel stupid for worrying about the Mohs excavation and reconstruction of my nose. Tomorrow morning.

Minor basal cell but they still need to get rid of it. New year, new nose.

I had a BCC taken off the side of my nose about 10 years ago. It left a large scar, but has not returned.

The generic dermatologist left a hole when she took most of it (I hope) a sample.

I had to have a skin graft, which thankfully healed okay.

I am going to do anything I fancy doing in 2022, mainly reaching my 70th birthday in March, and celebrating that milestone in some way.
I have no lists of things I am not going to do, so I made one just for you.
1) I am not going on a cruise either.
(Never have, and never will.)
2) I am not going to go into space.
(There’s nothing there, and I can’t afford it anyway.)
3) I am not going to buy a different car.
(I’m going to try to keep my old car on the road for another year.
I think it needs new brakes all round.)
4) I am not going to bother to go to the cinema to watch a film on a screen not that much bigger than my TV.
5) I am not going to vote in any elections.
(There is nobody left I would want to vote for.)
Best wishes, Pete.

The best thing about elections is that only one of them can win.

Good to all of those. My last and final cruise was in 2017.

Stevie, I think your list is wise! We all need to focus on self care I think. I would never board a cruise ship. I am sorry you had such a harrowing experience on your cruise. Now adding the potential for Covid spread to the equation I do not know how anyone would take that risk.

I hadn´t thought about this but of the top of my head here are mine:
Five things I´m not going to do in 2022
1. I´m not going to listen to negative people
2. I´m not going to travel until it is safe to do so.
3. I´m not going to put pressure on myself to do things I don´t want to do.
4. I´m not going to dwell in self-pity.
5. I´m not going to sit inside when I could be outside in the sun and fresh air.

I love cruising but haven’t been on one since 2019. I hope to get back to it someday but have no immediate plans. I didn’t hear about your near-death experience on a cruise in 2017. So sorry that happened.
