This week’s question: Tell us three things about you. What makes you unique? How would people describe you?
1) The hair. The obvious one most people all go for is the hair. It is my fate to have been cursed with much unruly curly hair. When I was younger it resembled an explosion. Now I keep it under somewhat more control.
I have also worn spectacles for short sightedness since I was 17, so the phrase most people use to describe me is ‘The lady with the dark curly hair and glasses’.
2) She’s a rocker. Yes, guilty as charged. If there’s any rock music festivals or rock bands touring, then I’m there! Any long-haired rock band will get my vote over trance, dance, hip-hop, garage, punk, rap crap…..
3) No milk, no eggs, no cheese, no caffeine, no chocolate, no crisps, no chips, no fat. Yes, I’m the awkward one with all the allergies. There’s always one, isn’t there? If you invite me to tea, please don’t give me a mug of caffeinated tea with cow’s milk and an egg sandwich (’nuff said)! On the other hand, if you give me a cup of green tea and a ham and tomato sandwich I’ll be able to stay out of the bathroom long enough to hold a meaningful conversation……

Here I thought my hair was curly — think spiral perm by God. I like rock too, but I like all kinds of music. I was a little frustrated when my daughter decided to become a gypsy bluegrass musician, but now I’m starting to appreciate bluegrass too. Not country-western yet, but I’ve learned not to say “never” when it comes to liking music.

I’m sure I would have loved the hair, Stevie!! Full and curly…I wear glasses so I think we have some things to talk about. I’ll serve you tea if you promise me a cup of coffee! Great post.

Sure you can have a coffee, but I’ll have to go out and buy some first, so let me know when you’re arriving!

The photo is not actually me, but when I was younger the hair wasn’t too dissimilar!

After experimenting with it for a few years, I’m back to wearing my hear the same way I did in High school. It’s just “me.”

Stevie, we have a lot in common. I’m a rocker from way back! Give me a rock band any day and I’m happy.

I like rock probably because I was a teenager in the 1970’s. Your roommate sounds interesting…..

I love the hair. It gives street cred. Isn’t it necessary to have something outward to signal to everyone else you’re a writer? I feel like it makes it easier anyway. For me, it’s a pink rain coat in a room full of hipsters in black.
