Some good advice for writers here from Meg Dowell.
1. You’re never so good at writing that you don’t need to practice, learn, or grow.
2. Sharing your work publicly isn’t optional.
3. It doesn’t matter how “bad” you think it is. Submit it. You have nothing to lose but your fear of failing.
4. Learn how to write from people writing better than you.

This may be untouchy-feely from the creative for $ side but #9, believe in yourself and your vision or your ability and keep slugging. If you need cheerleaders this can be a lonely trek. #12, and the real problem in this everyone’s a winner world is making sure they’re not just blowing smoke up your skirt so you’ll reciprocate. We need people to tell us painful truths and point at solutions and say get back on the horse when we fall, not just attaboys.

Yes, we live in the ‘every one’s a winner’ society. Painful truths are hard to do.

Hi Stevie, when I started writing for children I took several books out of the library and dissected them to see how they were put together. It was a big help.
