My family drama ‘Barren‘ is free just for today. It was published in October 2020 and so far has one 5 star rating:
Esme Jones and husband Aron have completed their family and have twin sons Jared and James. Esme’s older sister Eden Reece is desperate for a child, but a hysterectomy has put paid to any chance of her becoming a parent. When Esme offers herself as a surrogate, Eden and husband Billy are delighted. However, when Esme notices the first fluttering of life inside her and a scan reveals that she is carrying a girl, both sisters are not prepared for the outcome which threatens to tear the fabric of the whole extended family apart.
As always, if you enjoy reading it, please consider leaving a review.
Apart from the usual blog hop on Monday, I’ll be winding down on writing blogs next week. We’ll be away at the van, and if it’s nice and sunny I prefer to be outside. See you all again soon. x
Since the blog hop has devolved into ‘what has this got to do with writing’ nonsense I’d start that holiday a day early. Now if someone were to modify this prompt like describe 6 characters in four words or less and make them easy to remember, now that’s a writer’s blog hop. Stuffing danger Barbie or Hunky Ken’s retail box, complete with accessories? Like Lamar says, “Hell, we were all good looking in our 40s. We might still be if we could afford Shatner and Selleck’s hair.” Have fun. Remember to spend your writing time on something of quality and memorable. If only to you.

and I snagged your book. My last Half Price Books run was a miserable flop of a crap shoot save for a nondescript 50s Penguin paperback I grabbed (in pile of same) classed “Plunder of the Sun” by David Dodge. Never heard of him. But he wrote the book of one of my favorite high camp movies, “To Catch a Thief.” Seems they made a movie of this one I have but they mangled it so much it’s just another excuse for Glen Ford and a babe to work where it’s hot and sweaty. Not that I don’t have my own copies of “Gilda” and “Affair in Trinidad.”

Cheers, Phil. I bet I know your favourite scene in ‘Gilda’…

That’s a fascinating chunk of movie making when dissected as a full femme fatale character. Her hard to find quote about the black dress in Gilda was along the lines of What held it up? Prayer. I didn’t care how many harnesses it had how they welded it to me every time I threw my arms in the air I was praying.

Nothing beats Robert Redford in his pink suit in The Great Gatsby…

That movie was over the top stylized, but then Redford has a knack of making beautiful movies. There’s a funny scene from The Hot Girl WIP that involves going to see the Great Gatsby. I should post it.

I won’t be doing any writing, Phil. I’ve just finished that book and have started the edits. I’m going to enjoy the break.
