Yesterday Sam studied Google Maps to find a street to park the car in that wouldn’t be closed for the Bembridge Street Fair. This isn’t a Jubilee thing, more an annual event, but of course due to Covid the fair had not taken place for 2 years. The weather was glorious, and it seemed the whole of the Island’s population had descended on Bembridge. Here’s a few photos showing Sam in the thick of it, and some rather good Irish dancers. Many of the stalls did have a Jubilee theme, even the cakes …

Then we drove up to Culver Down along with about 500 other people to watch the lighting of the Jubilee beacon…

Today we escaped to the relative calm of the Tennyson Trail for a hike, and finished off at another street fair in Freshwater where we sat on the grass and listened to a rather good band…

Onwards and upwards…. more Jubilee stuff tomorrow!
